Depression that begins after you first become pregnant (peri-natal), or following the birth of a child (postnatal), is collectively referred to as peripartum depression. It can affect many women, and may only be recognised in the post-natal period.Instead of the hoped experience of joy, women may struggle with fear and anxiety, panic attacks, troublesome thoughts, guilt and depression.
In addition, some women may need support for facing other challenges including the trauma of the birthing experience, sleepless nights, social isolation, relationship problems, and even financial difficulties.
Our psychologists are able to provide the necessary care and treatment for peri-natal and postnatal depression and related concerns.
