Specific Phobia refers to the fear of a particular situation or object. It is common for individuals to have multiple specific phobias. Phobias may lead to significant impairment and distress.

Common phobias include:

  • Natural environment (e.g. heights, storms, water)
  • Situations (e.g. being in an airplane, being in an elevator, being in enclosed spaces)
  • Others (e.g. choking, vomiting, loud sounds; in children eg. costumed characters)
